At first we drive to Mojstrana and follow the road towards Vrata valley where we park on a big parking lot couple of minutes before Aljažev dom. |
| Path description: |
We start at the Aljažev dom v Vratih mountain hut. The path leads us left into the woods (badly signed). After an hour and a half we get out of the woods. Climbing starts here (slippery when wet!!). Some abysses are very deep. Safety catches help us on the way. There are also signs for every 100m you climb. In early summer some of the mountain gorges are covered with snow (ice-pick and crampons recommended). After three hours we enter the path over Prag. Only a minute left to spring, where we refresh a little. The path here isn't for climbing any more. Then we reach a crossroads, where we take a left (right: Kredarica) and have just a 30 min walk to Staničev dom. Careful, you can get lost quickly in the fog! The home has a nice winter room, but when used it is supposed to be cleaned again. There is also a beautiful view of Triglav.
From the cottage we continue towards Cmir (north-west) and walk almost on leveled ground. Soon a road secedes towards Vrbanove špice and soon after left, towards Begunjski vrh. In both cases we go straight ahead. We go over the slopes beneath Begunjski vrh and the scree, where we can still find snow in the early summer. We go over to the mountain crest, where we can see the valley Vrata. The path turns right here and goes over a smooth plate (well secured) and fast afterwards steeply rises. We are now walking on a mountain crest, stopped by a 10 m deep gulf. We descend on a very well protected road vertically downwards. The path continues to descend, but starts to rise again soon and leads us on the top of Rjavčeva glava. We come down the slightly exposed crest (very dangerous when wet) and the path rises again and passes over to a narrow crest, which is not very well protected. Here, we make a second descent. The last ascent to the top waits. |
