We drive from Kranj to village Golnik and continue on a main road. A steep road towards village Gozd branches to right soon after the village. We direct on this road and follow it all the way to a parking lot at the church in the village. Parking is desired on one of the parking lots in front of the shelter in Gozd. This extends our way for just 3 – 15 minutes.

We follow along the road leading from the parking place and a path from Golnik joins ours in a few minutes. The road turns left here and turns into a cart track after a short time. We should pay attention to go straight forward here, because of the crossing. We come to a new crossroad soon and take a left, leading past a water basin along the cart track. A foot path branches off from it and we take it. The path is now going through a forest and there are plenty of opportunities to rest. The forest starts to thicken 15 min before the hut and finally it ends. We continue along the path that braches off towards Tolsti vrh, just before the cottage. It leads us over the south slopes to a ravine under the top Vrata. The path gently ascends and we reach a more abrupt part, which leads us to a crest. We leave it after a few meters and the path descends a little and leads us to the last ascent to the top. When at the top, we must climb over the fence, meant to stop the live stock.
